INTRODUCTION

Membership plays a vital role in sustaining the operation of the cooperative. It is the highest decision making body of the organization and a fundamental element that will determine its future leadership.

Membership, above all, plays a very important role in Cooperative growth and development. Without them, there would have no cooperative in existence, therefore, it is more appropriate to establish policies and guidelines in order to encourage existing members to be more active in participating membership recruitment and expansion and for prospect individuals to be more willing to become one.

Metro Ormoc Community Multi-Purpose Cooperative (OCCCI) Board of Directors shall be responsible in formulating, reviewing and adjusting the Membership Policy as the Board deemed it necessary in achieving the Cooperative goals for membership expansion, in reciprocity with the members' importance, the Board is likewise responsible in formulating policies that would best answer the felt needs of the members through the assistance of the Management.

SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES

The main objective on this Membership Development Manual is to serve as bible towards successful marketing of membership, a core of cooperative’s life. Specifically, this would address the administration of membership satisfaction and customer care excellence.

The contents of this manual shall apply to all kinds of membership, regular and associate. The Institutional Services Department shall be responsible for the administration of this policy manual.

Administering, revising and updating of this policy manual shall be a continuing process. All concerned shall be informed of any amendments and additions for a sound implementation. Any changes of policy on this manual shall be noted in the list of updates indicating the chapter or section affected.

DEFINITION

Cooperative is a duly registered association of persons who voluntarily joined together with a common bond of interests to achieve a lawful social and/or economic end, making contributions to its capital required by accepting a fair share of the risks and benefits of its undertakings in accordance with the universally accepted principles of cooperatives

Laboratory Cooperative is a cooperative formed and managed principally by minors and which is affiliated with a registered “guardian cooperative”.

Guardian Cooperative is a cooperative duly registered with the Authority with which a Laboratory Cooperative is affiliated.

General Assembly is the full membership of the cooperative duly amended for the purposes of exercising all the rights and performing all the obligations pertaining to cooperatives.
